Education

Dahyun is a firm believer that education is integral to the success of a dancer, and it goes beyond simple transfer of information. An educator communicates their world view and philosophy to their dancer, which is why having proper training, intentions, and communication skills as a teacher is so important. Having received their Masters in Arts in Dance Education at Steinhardt, School of Culture, Education, and Human Development, Dahyun has worked as a student teacher in

  • Sixth Avenue Elementary School (Pre-K-6 Grade)

  •  Brooklyn High School of the Arts (9-12 Grade)

through which they developed their skills as a teacher to properly communicate with and guide their students.

In their artistic career, Dahyun has also taught

  • Commercial Choreography

  • Beginner Level House

  • Contemporary Floorwork

  • Contemporary Partnering

in various venues and events for variety of students including pre-professional level (7-12 Grade) students,

beginner 'non-dancer' adults, actors, K-pop trainees, and professional dancers.

Aside from dance, she has also been trained as a Pilates instructor, which she incorporates into her classes as a valuable cross training tool in all levels. In all dance forms, a dancer can grow stronger by incorporating exercises that pertain to their goals to enhance their quality of movement. She is currently a Pilates instructor at Equinox, helping dancers and 9-5 workers have better quality of movement and alighnment.
